I draw inspiration from a lifetime of living in New England and love the changeable seasonal nature of it. I feel being outside is good for the soul, and I paint directly from life in response to what I see and experience around me. Although I style my work after the Boston School painters and their deep foundation in impressionism, I frequently refer back to the Dutch Masters and particularly appreciate their way of presenting a story within a painting.
I am a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Illustration, and spent a number of years as a graphic designer and illustrator before focusing on painting. I studied painting with Robert Douglas Hunter and David P. Curtis.
My work has been included in a number of juried shows throughout the area, and I have received prizes from the Guild of Boston Artists, the Rockport Art Association, The Cape Cod Art Center, the Weston Arts and Crafts Association and the Newton Art Association. I am a juried member of the Rockport Art Association.
